1. What made you want to start a podcast?
I’ve always been a self-help/ self-care fanatic. Being from a family of health-nuts and Pilates Instructors, I’ve always been fascinated by the efforts people put forward to unlock full optimization of self. Because I have been in the arts field my entire life too, the lines between art and wellness have always been laced together. When I began teaching musical theatre voice, it was so inspiring to me when I saw the way my student’s lives were changed by stories portrayed on stage. The ability to understand the feelings of one another is so important. With being able to see what motivated people to live out their dreams and gain a better headspace can help us in our own times of adversity! We can learn so much about a person and so much about ourselves by hearing their stories. That truly compelled me to make a podcast that shares people’s inspiring stories at the intersection of wellness. We all feel jaded from time to time, but there is a way to alter that ‘jadedness’ into motivation!
2. If you could only listen to one artist for the rest of your life, who would it be and why?
Oh man, this is a hard question because all I do is listen to music. I would have to say Hatchie. Her music is just so refreshing and whenever I listen to her I feel like I’m in an 80’s academy award-winning film.
3. Biggest lesson you've learned in the last 6 months?
Do what you don’t want to do first! Getting what you don’t want to do done will make you procrastinate less.
4. If you could have a conversation with one person, dead or alive, who would it be?
I would love to have a conversation with Alfred Adler. I find Adlerian psychology fascinating. Alfred was one of the first psychiatrists to deem the importance of mental health. I would love to talk with him about the theories behind what motivates human behaviors and the struggles he had to face with proving mental health to be important. Interestingly enough, he also studied opera and was an opera singer prior to becoming a psychiatrist, so I would want to hear him sing too!
5. What does your ideal self-care day look like?
Water fasting, bubble baths, and audiobooks—that basically sums it up.
6. Are you genuinely happy right now?
I really am. I am so very grateful for everything in my life.
7. Who is a female figure that inspires you?
Miki Agrawal! She is such an awesome trailblazing entrepreneur and badass lady. From creating the first gluten-free pizza shop in New York City to creating the first period-proof underwear, she seriously breaks barriers with her inventions. She’s a phenomenal woman that lives unapologetically; it really inspires me.
8. If you could pick up and move anywhere in the world right now, where would you go?
Right now, my heart is calling me to New York City. So, I am going to pick up and move there! But I would also love to live in Greece because it’s so beautiful (and Mediterranean food is my weakness).
9. Funniest memory?
Going to see the play “Hand to God” at this very abstract theatre company called Dad’s Garage in Atlanta, Georgia. I was with my best friend Fardeen and we both didn’t know what to expect. It was a wild ride, I highly suggest you google it and read the synopsis, ha!
10. Would your younger self be proud of who you are right now? Why or why not?
I believe so! I feel like younger Jade would be proud of current Jade because I am doing everything I said I would do. My dreams and goals have always stayed the same since I was younger, so I think she’d be happy that I haven’t veered off the path of what I’ve been wanting.
11. Who’s your favorite person to follow on Instagram?
I mean, I am a sucker for all the random meme pages I follow. But another favorite of mine would be Master Sri Akarshana (@master_sri_akarshana), I love pondering over his content.
12. What takes up most of your time?
Currently editing and creating content for Jaded & Motivated, and I hate to say it but scrolling through Instagram.
13. Favorite YouTuber?
Definitely Ally Hills. I want to make a TikTok Cocktail with her one day!
14. How different was your life one year ago?
A year ago, I really didn’t have a clue where I was going or what I truly wanted to do. Now, I am crystal clear on where I am going and what I want out of life right now. I feel a lot more at ease than I did a year ago.
15. When was the last time you checked in with yourself?
The last time was this morning whilst meditating. I try to check in with myself at least once a day.
16. Favorite childhood memory?
It has to be me recording and editing a “YouTube show” when I was nine. I recorded my baby sister in her walker and made it seem like she was exploring the world (mind you, the editing was atrocious). I put a lot of time and effort into it even though now it’s just a silly thing my brothers like to make fun of me for.
17. Do you prefer quality or quantity?
Quality, it’s more *buzzword* sustainable.
18. Dream job?
My dream job is to become a successful recording artist and tour around the world (currently manifesting).
19. Where would you spend all your time if you could?
At different coffeeshops trying their coffee and comparing them to previous coffees I had tried. I consider myself a coffee connoisseur, but others just consider me the BIGGEST coffee snob. And I mean, they’re not wrong.
20. Are you proud of who you are right now?
I am proud of who I am right now and where I am headed.
